Michael Stewart is an award winning writer, born and dragged up in Salford, who moved to Yorkshire in 1995 and is now based in Bradford. He has written several full length stage plays, as well as securing work in radio and television; most recently writing for Emmerdale. He was the winner of the BBC Alfred Bradley Award in 2003.

He is writer-in-residence at Theatre in the Mill and senior lecturer in creative writing at Huddersfield University, where he is the director of the Huddersfield Literature Festival.
