Sumeia Ali was born in Bristol and moved to Yorkshire around a year later and now lives in Dewsbury. Her main subject is the interface between traditional and modern, what she calls the culture clash between her religious, social background and the relationships that arise within her small northern community, particularly among young people. The tensions that spark between them inspire the writing and the search for resolution provides impetus for her stories.

Her story ‘Estimated Time of Arrival’ features in Light Transports.
