Catherine Browne was born in Blackpool in 1981.  After an early start in theatre and stage management, she headed across the Pennines to study Literature and Theatre at Leeds University. Following an MA in English and American Literature, she spent four years at Arts Council England working with writers, publishers and festivals across Yorkshire. Catherine now works for an overseas development agency, bakes cakes and lives in York.
