David Waddington is Professor of Communications at Sheffield Hallam University, where he has been employed for over thirty years. During this time, he has been a keen student of industrial relations in the coal industry, the policing of public protest, and the impact of pit closures on Britain’s mining communities. Though born and raised in Castleford, and a life-long Leeds United supporter, he now lives with his wife, Joanna, an ardent Sheffield Wednesday-ite, in the Hillsborough area of Sheffield.
